Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is allocated to children who are currently eligible for income-related free school meals (IRFSM) in mainstream and non-mainstream settings, children who at any point in the last 6 years have been eligible for IRFSM and Looked After Children (LAC). The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is an additional grant to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches students who need it most.

In making provision for pupils with PP eligibility, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged; we also know that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for Pupil Premium. Therefore, we reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.
