New Starters

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage

This is the time that we would normally be preparing for your children to start in school in September, but because of the unusual situation that we find ourselves in due to the Corona Virus, we cannot organise things in our normal way. However, we thought that you would like some information about things you can start to prepare . As the situation unfolds and school has a clearer understanding of how the new academic year will look, we will update you further.

Starting a new school is a very exciting, but nervous time for everyone. Knowing what to expect can help make everyone feel more confident. So meet our team of teachers and teaching assistants.

Mrs R Littlefair -EYFS Lead/Reception Teacher
Mrs H Johnson-Nursery Teacher

Mrs C Lawton-Teaching Assistant
Mrs M Maughan-Teaching Assistant
Mrs D Harbron- Teaching Assistant

For the first week the Reception children come to school for a shortened day, they arrive at 8.45am, stay for lunch and then go home at 1.30pm.

Reception Sessions times

  • Full Time Reception session – 8.45am – 3.00pm

Nursery Sessions times

  •  Morning Nursery  – 8.30am – 11.30am
  • Afternoon Nursery – 12.15pm – 3.15pm
  • 30 hour children  8.30am – 3.15pm

Getting ready to start school is part of the fun, so here are some useful things you will need to know, and get ready,  before your child starts in September.

What is the EYFS School Uniform?

Your child will need to have a school uniform, before they attend school. The uniform consist of a white or red t-shirt, black jogging bottoms and a red jumper or cardigan.

Your child will need a pair of black shoes that fasten with velcro. No laces or buckles please unless your child can fasten them independently.

You can find out more about our school uniform on our website.

Do we have a Breakfast Club?

At the current time, our breakfast club is under review due to COVID 19 restrictions.  We will keep you updated with any changes.

For further information please contact the school office.

Can the children have a daily snack?

Each child will be provided with fruit as part of their session each day. Nursery children are also provided with milk. Water is available if the children would rather have it.

Daily snack is provided free of charge, and while the children will be encouraged to take part, they are allowed to decline.

What is 50p Friday?

We ask for each child to make a donation of 50p on a Friday to contribute towards the consumable resources that we use in Early Years.

This means we can provide sessions such as cooking and food tasting as well as sensory experiences and visitors into school.

Are children allowed to bring other money into school?

All money brought into school (school trips, charity donations etc) should be in a suitable container/envelope, clearly marked with your child's name and class for identification.

For further information please contact the school office.
